IN TOUCH WITH THE WORLD...
FROM HOME!
As these pages are being written, in the end of summer 2005, we can look back to a life with more varied experiences than most people have seen.
We have been very lucky, and it is also interesting to look back and see how our priorities have changed over the years. In the first half of our married life - going on 54 now - we had the opportunity to travel a lot and to see the world. Some of those experiences are covered in the section called LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY .
The last twenty-some years our travel has become less frequent and the trips shorter. Why? Several reasons, like the cost of traveling, the dislike of fighting crowds and waiting at terminals, a bit of ‘been there - done that’, etc. ‘Old age’ may also have a lot to do with it...
So, we are spending most of our time right here at home - and we love it.
The same thing has happened with our ‘social life’. We have been very active, especially with the game of tennis. We are talking about playing three to five days a week, practically the whole year, and it wasn’t hit-and-giggle tennis! Tennis brought us a lot of friends, many of whom we would meet outside the courts.

Well, we had to hang up our rackets a few years ago, and although we love to meet friendly people in an informal way, we don’t go to parties, and we don’t invite people to parties here.
So, dear reader, you probably think that we must lead an awfully dull life, just hanging around the house and doing nothing. You would be wrong in thinking so, and I’ll tell you why.
The interesting thing is that both something very basic and something based on advanced technology are responsible for making our life pleasant and fascinating.
The basics? The sections OUR YARD and OUR WILDLIFE will offer you glimpses of our daily life. The idea is to describe it in a conversational way with words and pictures as things are happening. For good measure, we go outside our property lines to deal with what happens in our general area in OF LOCAL INTEREST.
What about technology? Well, for one thing, TV and the Internet puts us in touch with all aspects of human life, if we care to look for it. Much of that will show up as web pages in the section, called ‘Opinions and observations’.
So, today’s technology virtually puts the whole world within reach to us without leaving the house! I have no illusions that a large number of people will find this site interesting, but it is a way for us to share glimpses of our life with family and friends, regardless where they live.
Some of the material may trigger person-to-person e-mail exchanges, and perhaps some of those folks will invite us to their lives via their own web sites?
One section of this web site is a little more personal than others is called ‘Family & Friends’. This is an attempt to show in words and pictures what our family members and friends are up to. As we are being spread out geographically and age and other factors prevent us from meeting face to face, this is a high-tech method to maintain personal contacts.
All of this web site is obviously open for anyone to read, but the ‘Family & Friends’ section is hardly of interest to others than those who are close to this group. CLICK HERE TO GET IN
