OUR WILDLIFE

One day in the summer of 2004, friend and then neighbor Connie came and showed us a copy of The Daily News from Jacksonville, NC. It had a story about a family whose yard had been recorded as a ‘Backyard Wildlife Habitat’ by National Wildlife Federation.
“Your yard is perfect for this - get it registered!”

Well, I went on the NWF web site and responded to about eight pages of questions, describing our yard. It is not hard to get accepted, because the Federation promotes the concept, and wants to see as many of those yards as possible.

We haven’t made any changes to qualify, because we had already provided for food, water, cover, and places to raise their young. We have had that in place for our beloved birds, but others, such as squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons are more than happy to help themselves to everything that is offered.

In the pages, linked to this page, I will tell you about those visitors. Hopefully, we will be able to add a large number of pictures as time goes by.

To organize the material a little, we will work with these main
categories :

BIRDS

SNAKES
